Pacific Coastal Airlines has confirmed it will be maintaining its non-stop flight between Victoria and Kamloops.
The pledge has come as the company celebrated its one year anniversary of launching the route on October 17th.
VP of Commercial for Pacific Coastal, Johnathan Richardson, says this will include the 6-day-a-week service.
“We are constantly reviewing all of our markets that we go to,” said Richardson. “Again, we’ve been very grateful and thankful to both the Kamloops and Victoria communities for showing strong support.”
Richardson says this is due to strong ridership, which he says was not unexpected.
“As projected, we did see very strong loads in the winter, and we were impressed too with how the performance continued all year,” noted Richardson. “At this time, we are still planning to offer the service year-round.”
The Kamloops to Victoria flight — which the City of Kamloops actively promoted during its initial launch — has survived, despite a direct flight between Kamloops and Edmonton lasting less than a year due to a lack of ridership.
