The annual Coldest Night of the Year walk is set to take place next month and the Mustard Seed Kamloops will be benefitting once again.
This year event is set for Saturday, February 22, where Kamloopsians will walk together to make a difference in the lives of those facing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
Community and volunteer engagement manager Katie Hutchins says it happens across Canada, on the same day in different cities. “The goal is really just to bring people together to raise funds for those that are experiencing homelessness or living in poverty. So it’s a really great organization. Each city is a different organization that’s kind of partnering with it, but in Kamloops, it’ll be the Mustard Seed.”
Hutchins says the goal this year is to raise $20,000. She says it was the same goal last year. “And we came short of that goal by about $400. So this year, our goal is $20,000 again, and we’re hoping we actually can meet it this year. We’re already off to a really good start.”
“I would just encourage people to sign up. If they’re not able to sign up a team, they can always donate to the mustard seed team. We have our own team, signed up. So you can always do that or volunteer at the event.”
All of the money that is raised in Kamloops will stay in Kamloops.
Since 2011, CNOY has brought together compassionate communities nationwide, raising vital funds to combat homelessness in cities across the country.
