The Kamloops Curling Club will once again be represented at a National Championship.
The Corryn Brown rink captured the BC Women’s title in Langley Sunday over Victoria’s Kayla MacMillan.
“Feels incredible! We had a really good week all week. I think it shows we deserved to be here,” said Brown in a post-match interview with Curl BC. “I think we brought it all together in that last game and really brought our A-game.”
Brown’s rink played solid all game, scoring three in the third end, then two more in five to go up 6-3.
“I think I’m probably thankful it wasn’t a draw,” joked Brown when asked about the third end points. “Just saw an opportunity and just tried to capitalize when we could. Slide was feeling really good, so just threw it close and let the sweepers do the rest.”
MacMillan would respond with three in the 8th, but ultimately it would not be enough, as Team Brown would go on to win 10-7 in the final.
Team Brown consists of longtime 3rd Erin Pincott, 2nd and team newcomer Sarah Koltun, along with veteran lead Sam Fisher.

They are coached by Kamloops Curling Club product Jim Cotter, who — along with his daughter Jaelyn — were able to make it into the playoffs for the Olympic qualifyers in Mixed Doubles in Nova Scotia, before eventually bowing out.
“Jim’s incredible. I can’t speak highly enough of what he brings to our team,” said Brown when asked by Curl BC about Cotter’s influence on their performance. “He’s really took us to that next level, and we’re really grateful for the expertise that he brings to our team as far as strategy, line of delivery, everything like that.”
The Corryn Brown foursome from Kamloops went 6-1 in the round-robin, with their only loss coming to the MacMillan rink.
Team Brown then defeated MacMillan 8-3 in the 1 verus 2 Page Playoff game to advance to today’s Final for their third meeting in three days.
This will be the Brown rink’s fourth trip to the Scotties.
Two of them were from wins at the Provincial Championships, while the team earned a wildcard selection last year for Calgary.
This year’s Scotties Tournaments of Hearts is in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
It’s scheduled to start Valentine’s Day, February 14th, and conclude with the final on February 23rd.
