Team Brown is officially into the playoffs at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
The Kamloops Corryn Brown rink finished pool play with a record of 6-2 after a 9-2 win over Prince Edward Island on Thursday afternoon in Thunder Bay, Ontario. That record has them finishing third in their Pool.
Team Brown scored round robin wins over Selena Sturmay of Alberta, Saskatchewan’s Nancy Martin, Krista McCarville representing Northern Ontario, Nunavut’s Julia Weagle, Melissa Adams of New Brunswick and Jane DiCarlo carrying the colours of PEI. Team Brown’s two losses came against a pair of top ranked teams in Rachel Homan who is wearing team Canada colours as the defending Canadian women’s curling champions and to third ranked Kayla Skirlik of Alberta.
After the top three teams from each pool are determined, it’s onward to Friday’s qualifying round, which remains the same — a Page playoff-type format — from the 2024 Scotties in Calgary:
• The first-place teams of each pool crossover to play the other pool’s second-place teams in 1-v-2 seeding games
• The winners of those 1-v-2 seeding games advance to the playoff round, while the losers drop to the 3-v-4 seeding games against the third-place teams in each pool
• The winners of those 3-v-4 seeding games advance to the playoff round, which now consists of four finalists
Team Brown will next play on Friday at 4:00 PM. Their opponent will be determined after Friday’s morning early draw which begins at 10:00 AM.
