A new gut busting experience has opened up in Kamloops.
Burger chain Fatburger has opened up its first location in the city.
It officially opened Monday night in the Columbia Place Shopping Centre, in the former Fuddruckers building.
The location is Fatburger Canada’s 28th location in BC, and 71st across the country.
The chain, which started out in California in the early 1950’s as a single burger stand in the predominantly Black section of south Los Angeles.
“Mr. Fat Burger,” as it was called then, took off in popularity due the style in which its cooked, and the portions dolled out.
What makes Fatburger stand out is the one-to-five ratio of fat to ground steak and beef in the burgers themselves.
The popularity of the chain along the west coast — almost becoming destination dining for anyone travelling through — encouraged a Canadian restauranteur to pick up the Canadian rights to the franchise name in 2005 — operating it as a separate Canadian entity that same year.
The location in Canada is the 71st Fatburger in Canada, and the 28th across BC.
