“I would move that we continue the pause until the procedure bylaw comes back to us and then we consider.”
That was the suggestion put forward by councillor Dale Bass at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
The idea of pressing pause on the process was first brought forward by Councillor Bill Sarai in the fall and council ultimately made the decision in January to halt the process for a two month period so that city staff could examine a a way to streamline the process.
Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson was the lone person to vote against continuing the pause. “I think we really need to consider going back to where we were at. We do have an election coming up and pretty quick, so i think we all want to acknowledge that. I don’t think it hurts to have public inquiries, especially the way we had them down of five minutes and delegations at ten.”
Administration will bring a report back on the the procedure bylaw at a later date.
The original suggestion came on the heels of someone “Zoom-bombing” the session, using the online feed to project pornographic images to the council chambers and those observing online.
