Kamloops voters have decided to stay in the Conservative.
Frank Caputo has been re-elected in the redrawn Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola riding, while the other Kamloops riding, Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies, has remained with incumbent Mel Arnold.
Caputo says he wants to take some time to assess where his party is at overall, saying that work will start tomorrow.
“We’ll evaluate as time comes,” said Caputo. “There are a number of members of our caucus that are outgoing members who weren’t successful. there are new members who were successful. I prefer that we kind of all get together as the big tent party and family we are, and we have those discussions behind closed doors. I don’t want to be presumptuous until we know exactly what’s going on.”
Dan Albas, who used to represent Merritt, has also won re-election in a redrawn Okanagan Lake West-South Kelowna riding.
However, there could be a Liberal upset in the making, as a redrawn Kelowna riding may have gone Liberal, with candidate Stephen Fuhr leading incumbent Tracy Gray.
That riding is still too close to call.
