Police are asking people to be on the lookout for garbage-can fire starters, after a series of small blazes were discovered over the weekend.

Around 12:45 on the morning of Monday, May 5, Kamloops RCMP received reports of multiple garbage can fires located on the 300-block of Seymour Street and 500-block of Victoria Street.

Police officers patrolled the area for suspects, while Kamloops Fire and Rescue dealt with the fires.

A Police spokesperson says a person of interest was allegedly seen in the area. They were described as a Caucasian man, with long hair with red highlights. He was wearing dark clothes and holding a pair of ski boots.
