After a two-year investigation, a Kamloops man is now facing a second-degree murder charge.

Police say 27-year-old Austin Alexander Neil Eyres has been charged in connection with the May 2023 shooting death of Chaneill Satow on Valhalla Drive.

Satow was found with a gunshot wound and later died in hospital.

RCMP say the Kamloops Serious Crime Unit made the case a top priority, leading to the charges laid this week.

Eyres remains in custody on an unrelated matter.

No further details are being released as the case moves through the courts.
