The Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops is celebrating a half-century of entertainment in Kamloops this year.
To help mark the milestone, the WCT has decided to make a splash on the leadership level.
“This is a time of both literal and metaphorical growth for WCT,” said WCT Executive Director, Matt Eger in a release. “We’re reinvigorating what has always made us strong: our steadfast commitment to Canadian theatre, new work, Indigenous stories, and art that moves, challenges, and inspires.”
To roll into the 50th season of theatre in Kamloops, the WCT leadership has hired on Kelli Fox.
Fox becomes the first-ever woman to take on the role of Artistic Director at the Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops.
She also carries a family name which holds a lot of clout in the acting world, as the younger sister of Michael J. Fox.

“I am so happy and excited to be joining the team at WCT in time for the 50th Anniversary Season,” said Fox. “There are a lot of exciting plans already underway, and I am looking forward to diving right in.”
Fox and Matt Eger, the current Executive Director, are expected to eventually lead the productions together.
“Matt will be directing, but I plan to keep my powder dry until next season and spend this first year immersing myself in the cultural life here,” said Fox in a release. “Kamloops has such a thriving creative scene that I’m dying to get to know better.”
Fox’s resume in the theatre includes time with the Shaw and Stratford Festivals.
Her resume also lists time with a number of other Canadian and US theatre companies, including Soulpepper, The Globe Theatre, The Blythe Festival, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan and the Arts Club Theatre Company.
Her IMDB also lists a number of smaller on-camera roles, including the film Time Cop with Jean Claude van Damme, as well as roles on the TV series’ The Commish and The X-Files.
“I’m a BC girl, and I’m thrilled to be home,” noted Fox. “But I don’t know the interior as well as the lower mainland and the islands. I’d be grateful for tips on hiking trails and good places to eat and shop.”
This year’s WTC calendar includes 7 different performances, starting with Women of the Fur Trade, which opens on October 9th.
The 2025/26 season wraps up on May 4th, 2026, with the conclusion of Wolf Cull.
