Sun Peaks Resort is officially in full summer mode, inviting visitors and locals alike to enjoy a range of outdoor activities, highlighted by mountain biking and golf.
“We were really excited to bring back our pre-ride day for season pass holders on Friday, June 13 — a chance to be first on the trails before the public opening on Saturday, June 14,” says Christina Antoniak, Communications Director at Sun Peaks. The pre-ride day will feature a free barbecue, swag tent, and plenty of community fun.
Mountain biking at Sun Peaks has grown significantly in recent years, now boasting two mountains with lift-access trails — Sundance and Todd Mountain — offering routes for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. A community trail network on Morrissey Mountain adds even more free-riding options.
“The mountain biking experience here has evolved with new trails and programs,” Antoniak explains. “We have everything from a progression park for first-timers to advanced downhill trails. Plus, we offer affordable rental and instruction packages to make it easy for newcomers to get started.”
Sun Peaks also highlights its long summer biking season, running daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day and tapering to 5 p.m. hours through September. For those with limited time, Twilight tickets allow riders to hit the trails after work.
Golfers can now tee off on the full 18-hole Graham Cook-designed course, which opened this past Friday after operating the front nine since mid-May.
The official public opening weekend on June 14 will also include the annual Lift and Lager event, featuring live music and free drinks for guests with passes or day tickets — a perfect way to celebrate the start of summer at Sun Peaks. “Anyone who comes up with a pass or just a ticket for the day, they can stop by Masses and get a free drink on us. There will also be some live music. So it’s just a really fun vibe on on opening day on Saturday, and again we’ve got some really cool coveted bike swag that’s only available then. So come on up and check it.”
With mountain biking, golf, and community events in full swing, Sun Peaks is positioning itself as a top destination to enjoy the great outdoors this summer, especially for those looking to escape the heat of lower elevations.
