Not a lot of details at this point, but Kamloops Mounties say they’re investigating a shooting downtown early Thursday morning.
“Multiple Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers and the Police Dog Services responded to a report of a shooting in the early morning,” stated the RCMP in a release Thursday morning.
“Just after midnight, police responded to a report of a male suffering from a gun shot wound in the 600 block of Seymour St,” added the Mounties.”
They say the victim was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with serious injuries, to the extent of which are unknown at this time.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, current evidence suggests this incident was not random,” said Staff Sgt. Kelly Butler, the Watch Commander on at the time of the shooting.
RCMP say the Serious Crime Unit, and General Investigation Support Team, along with the Kamloops RCMP Forensic Identification Section are all part of the investigation.
It’s not known if this has any connection to the ongoing drug conflict in the city.
