
The Kamloops Court House was evacuated and closed Thursday morning following a reported bomb threat, prompting a thorough police response and search of the building.
Kamloops RCMP received the bomb threat around 9 a.m. and, along with BC Sheriff Services, immediately shut down and evacuated the courthouse located along Columbia Street. The area was secured, and pedestrians and motorists were urged to avoid the vicinity.
A Police Dog Service Unit, including a bomb-sniffing dog, conducted a detailed search of the entire courthouse but found no explosives. After the all-clear was given, the courthouse was reopened to employees and the public at approximately 2 p.m.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident. Court proceedings scheduled for Thursday were postponed or moved to virtual platforms during the closure.
