On the same day the BC Wildfire Service put parts of western Kamloops-proper and the surrounding area back into an Extreme Fire Danger rating, the risk of lightening caused fires is also going up dramatically today.
Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Kamloops area, with the storm system expected to last over the region through much of Friday.
The system developing over the region is expected to bring heavy showers along with it as well.
The weather office is predicting as much as 10mm during the daytime hours.
This evening and Saturday morning may see rainfall amounts anywhere from 10 to 20mm.

It comes as the Kamloops area has been able to — for the most part — the early season wildfires which have been dogging the northeast of the province and the prairies.
