Kamloops RCMP are investigating reports of suspected drink tampering at bars and restaurants in the downtown area.
Police say the incidents happened between June 24th and 28th. Four people — both patrons and staff — have reported symptoms consistent with being drugged after having drinks at licensed establishments.
One person told police they met a man shortly before noticing an odd taste in their drink and feeling mentally impaired.
Corporal Dana Napier says surveillance footage has been collected, and investigators are working to identify more potential victims and anyone involved. Witnesses are also being interviewed.
So far, no other crimes have been linked to the suspected drugging, but police are reminding the public to stay safe when drinking in public:
-
Never leave your drink unattended
-
Don’t accept drinks from strangers
-
Stick with trusted friends
-
If you think you’ve been drugged, get medical help right away
-
And report any suspicious behavior to police
If you have information, or think you may have been affected, call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and refer to file number 2025-21075.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
