The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has officially rescinded the Evacuation Order and downgraded the area north of Lytton, impacted by the Izman Creek wildfire to an “All Clear” status, effective as of 3:30 p.m. on July 9, 2025.
This update affects approximately three addressed properties, as well as an additional six properties, for a total of nine properties in Electoral Area “I” (Blue Sky Country), including those near Highway 12 at Laluwissin Creek FSR. The order was issued under section 107(c) of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act.
The Izman Creek wildfire, which began on July 1 after a wheel detached from an RCMP trailer, is now classified as “being held” by the BC Wildfire Service. This means it is no longer expected to spread, thanks to ongoing firefighting efforts and supportive weather conditions. Though it still measures approximately 240 hectares, it is no longer listed as a “wildfire of note.” Crews will remain on-site for mop-up and monitoring operations to ensure the area remains secure.
As of 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Izman Creek blaze was one of 72 active wildfires burning across British Columbia. Roughly 20% remain out of control, with many linked to recent lightning activity. The BC Wildfire Service warns that high winds, particularly in the province’s northeast and southeast, could worsen fire conditions and spark new lightning-caused wildfires in areas with minimal rainfall.
The public is urged to stay alert, as evacuation notices may be reinstated if conditions change.
