Interior Health has issued a public drug alert for Kamloops after a dangerous batch of street drugs was found to contain a potentially lethal combination of fluorofentanyl and ketamine.
The substance, commonly referred to as “down,” has been confirmed through testing to contain fluorofentanyl—a powerful synthetic opioid—along with ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic. Health officials warn that this combination can cause extreme sedation, dizziness, hallucinations, and in some cases, overdose symptoms that may persist even after naloxone has been administered.
“This is a highly toxic mixture,” health officials stated in a public advisory. “Anyone using street drugs should be extremely cautious.”
