Tyrelle Chadwick throwing for the Illinois State Red Birds. The Kamloops product was selected by the Colorado Rockies on Monday in the 2025 MLB Draft/via Illinois State University
Normally a moniker which tends to land on Kamloops Blazers talent — but a Kamloops product is adding Major League Baseball to the local “draft class” list.
Kamloops right-hander Tyrelle Chadwick was selected Monday in the 2025 MLB Draft.
The Colorado Rockies took Chadwick in the 18th round of the Draft — 527th overall.
He has been listed as part of the West Coast League in Oregon this summer for the Bend Elks.
The 6’4″ fireballer is set to roll into his senior year at Illinois State University after completing his third season with the Redbirds.
With his numbers, the 22-year-old Westsyde grad was able to draw some attention.
He went 6-3 with Illinois State, posting a 4.31 ERA and 43K’s over 77.1 innings pitched.
Chadwick has an arm.
His fastball can touch 97 MPH.
If the Chadwick name rings familiar, it’s because Tyrelle is the son of longtime TRU Wolfpack baseball coach Ray Chadwick.
Tyrelle also played two summers with the Kamloops Northpaws in 2022 and 2023.
