Police are urging the public to avoid the Peterson Creek Bridge and surrounding areas following a tragic incident early Wednesday morning that claimed the life of a young person.

Kamloops RCMP officers responded to a call around 5:50 a.m. to an area beneath the bridge, where despite life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police are on scene investigating the circumstances of this tragic death; however, criminality is not believed to be a factor at this time,” said Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP. “We offer our condolences to the family and friends for their loss.”

The bridge remains closed while the investigation continues. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2025-2368
