Final scoreboard from the 2025 US Amateur Championship Qualifying Tournament in Tacoma, Washington won by Kamloops-area golfer Wyatt Brook/via USGA
Another big achievement for a young Kamloops-area golfer.
Wyatt Brook, who plays out of Rivershore Golf Links, is headed to a US national championship tournament.
The 26 year-old fired a four-under-67 to win the final qualifying stage at Chambers Bay Golf Club on Wednesday in Tacoma, Washington to qualify for this year’s US Amateur Championships.
Brook finished one stroke ahead of fellow BC golfer Joshua Ince, with the Surrey native also qualifying for the event in San Francisco next month.
The two BC golfers were among just four non-Americans who took part in the 90-player qualifying field.

The victory now sets Brook up for the grueling US Amateur, which is a match play event.
The 125th annual tournament is set for the Olympic Club in San Francisco August 11-17.
Brook has been piling up the results lately.
He was in the hunt for the recent BC Amateur Championships thru the first two rounds in Kimberly in mid-July before settling into an eventual tie for 13th in the field.
He was ranked 3,562nd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings before this victory in Tacoma.
That ranking is most likely to rise as a result and builds on the gains he has been putting together in his young career — including a breakout performance last year.
Brook narrowly missed out on qualifying for the US Open in 2024 — something he spoke about with Radio NL.
He also took away last year’s BC Mid-Am title, while finishing third in the event this year.
Brook is scheduled to play in this weekend’s Rivershore Amateur Golf Championship.
The +4 handicap is considered the favorite heading into the local tournament.
