
Kamloops Search and Rescue was called out on the evening of Saturday, August 23rd, following reports of a potential drowning at Kamloops Lake near Bruker Marina.
An individual was reported swimming towards a dock but never reached it. Emergency responders, including the Tobiano Volunteer Fire Department, BC Emergency Health Services, and the Tk’emlups RCMP, quickly arrived on scene. KSAR was also dispatched shortly thereafter.
Using an underwater drone, also known as a Remotely Operated Vehicle, with assistance from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, KSAR located the body on the lake floor at approximately 11:00 p.m.
The RCMP dive team recovered the individual the following day with support from KSAR, the RCMP, and the Tobiano Volunteer Fire Department.
In a statement, Kamloops Search and Rescue extended heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, acknowledging the profound sorrow and loss felt by all during this difficult time.
