Northbound traffic on the Coquihalla Highway will come to a halt overnight this Saturday as crews carry out urgent paving work near Snowshed Hill.
The full closure of the northbound lanes will take place from 12:01 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, to allow for repairs to a deteriorating seam between the slow and middle lanes. According to officials, the seam has been causing water to pool during rainstorms — a hazard that has led to hydroplaning, heavy spray, and increased safety risks for drivers.
The repairs, part of a broader paving project by the Dawson Group, are aimed at improving road conditions and reducing the potential for further damage ahead of the winter season.
During the closure, northbound traffic will be stopped at Othello Road (Exit 183). Drivers are being asked to plan alternate routes or adjust travel times to avoid delays. Emergency vehicles will still be able to access the area.
Motorists are reminded to use caution and watch for crews working in the area.
