The Kamloops RCMP is appealing to the public for assistance in an ongoing aggravated assault investigation.
On Saturday, September 27, shortly after 5 a.m., officers responded to a serious assault in the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive. The victim, described by police as a kind and generous individual known to the Merit Place Shelter community, is currently suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries.
Police are searching for a missing black and grey backpack believed to be connected to the incident. Based on the investigation, the backpack was likely discarded somewhere between the Merit Place Shelter and the 200-block of Tranquille Road, possibly in wooded or shoreline areas within Sahali, North Shore, or downtown Kamloops.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation. A suspect has been identified, arrested, and remains in custody. No further details have been released as the investigation continues.
