The CP-KC Holiday Train is set to roll through B.C. once again, bringing festive lights, live music—and a powerful message of community support.
This year’s big draw? Canadian icons The Barenaked Ladies, who will headline the event as the train makes its way across the province. Their local stop in Kamloops is scheduled for December 18th outside the Sandman Centre, with a 30-minute performance from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m.
The train’s journey through the BC INterior begins December 17th, with stops in Sicamous, Salmon Arm, Canoe, and Notch Hill before reaching Kamloops. Afterward, it continues through Savona and Ashcroft that night, then on to Lytton in the morning. The final B.C. performances take place in the Fraser Valley on December 19th and 20th. But while the music draws the crowds, the purpose behind the train remains front and center.
“This really is like a Christmas card coming to your town,” says Bernadette Siracky, CEO of the Kamloops Food Bank. “It’s become something people look forward to every year. You’re at an outdoor concert in the winter, a rail car opens, there’s music, there’s magic—and it all supports your local food bank.”
The CP-KC Holiday Train has been supporting food banks for more than 20 years, long before many had widespread community recognition or support. Today, it’s one of the Kamloops Food Bank’s biggest annual events.
“The need is constant throughout the year,” Siracky explains, “but at Christmas, people are in a giving mood—and for our clients, that extra support really matters. Events like this bring the community together and remind people they’re not alone.”
The excitement is already building, not just for the cause, but for the headlining act.
“I’ve been humming ‘If I Had a Million Dollars’ for days,” Siracky laughs. “The community is buzzing. Social media is lighting up. We’re expecting a big turnout—and CPKC is absolutely knocking it out of the park with entertainment this year.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for the Kamloops Food Bank—helping ensure that the spirit of the season reaches everyone in the community.
