Three people were arrested Monday evening following a reported abduction that led to a short police pursuit on Kamloops’ North Shore.
On December 22, just after 7:00 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a call reporting a possible abduction. Police were provided with a vehicle description and licence plate and soon located the vehicle in the North Shore area. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled, nearly colliding with a police cruiser. Due to the high-risk nature of the report, officers proceeded with a pursuit.
Police Dog Services was requested to assist as the incident unfolded. When it was safe to do so, officers made contact between a police vehicle and the suspect vehicle near the 200-block of Tranquille Road, disabling the truck. The maneuver resulted in damage to a police cruiser.
All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. One individual was transported to hospital for assessment and later released. Police determined the reported abduction was not credible.
The investigation is ongoing, and charge recommendations are anticipated for the driver, who remains in custody.
