Kamloops RCMP say three people were arrested Sunday night after a woman was allegedly held against her will in a vehicle along the Trans-Canada Highway.
Police were called at about 7 p.m. on Jan. 4 after the woman was able to communicate that she was being detained in her own van by three people, one of whom was believed to have a gun. According to RCMP, the vehicle became disabled after running out of gas near the 2300-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway.
The woman was then allowed to walk to a nearby gas station, where she asked for help and police were notified.
Officers conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and were able to safely separate the woman from the suspects, RCMP said.
“Frontline police were able to safely separate the woman from the three alleged suspects in the van,” said Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP. “Two men and a woman were arrested on scene and a BB gun was located in the van.”
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation, and charge recommendations are expected. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2026-346.
