A routine grocery run turned into a life-changing moment for a Chase resident after he landed a $275,000 prize through British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s newest Scratch & Win game.

Ryan S. was shopping when a The Big Spin Scratch & Win ticket caught his attention. After purchasing the ticket, he scanned it using the BCLC Lotto! App and discovered he had won a chance to spin The Big Spin wheel — a top prize opportunity held at BCLC’s Vancouver office.

“Then I took it to Cascades Casino Kamloops to check,” Ryan recalled. “My heart was going 300 miles per hour. I asked the casino if they had medical aid!”

The Chase resident shared the exciting news first with his wife. “I had to explain to her what the ‘big spin’ meant!” he said with a laugh.

On Friday, February 20, surrounded by his wife and BCLC staff, Ryan stepped up to the wheel and completed his highly anticipated spin — securing a whopping $275,000 prize. He is the first top prize winner of The Big Spin game.

Despite the significant windfall, Ryan says he doesn’t yet have concrete plans for the money. For now, he’s simply soaking it all in.

“It’s amazing!” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore on Columbia Street in Kamloops.
