A heavy police presence in a Kamloops neighbourhood Friday afternoon drew concern from residents after reports of a firearm prompted a large-scale response.
According to the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, officers were called to the 1700-block of Ord Road at approximately 1:12 p.m. on April 3, 2026, after receiving a report that a woman had run into a residence carrying a firearm.
Frontline officers quickly secured the area, with support from the Emergency Response Team. As a precaution, nearby homes were evacuated while police worked to contain the situation.
“Public safety was our top priority,” said Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for the detachment.
Two individuals—a man and a woman—were initially taken into custody without incident. As the investigation continued, officers determined a third person remained inside the residence. A second male suspect was later arrested safely, and police confirmed a firearm was seized at the scene.
The woman remains in custody due to outstanding warrants, while the two men have since been released without charges.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and thanked residents for their cooperation during the incident.
