An SUV that caught fire on Hillside Drive Monday night is not believed to be suspicious, according to police.

Kamloops RCMP say the incident occurred just after 9 p.m. near the 1400-block of Hillside Drive. The vehicle’s owner had been driving when they pulled over after noticing smoke coming from the SUV.

Shortly after stopping, the vehicle caught fire.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze.

Police say no criminality is suspected in the incident.
