Police in Kamloops are asking for the public’s help following a suspicious early-morning fire that destroyed a school portable.
Officers with the Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after being called to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue at a structure fire at Sa-Hali Secondary School, in the 200-block of Arrowstone Drive. By the time crews arrived, the portable classroom was fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby buildings, but the portable was completely destroyed.
Investigators believe the fire may be suspicious. The RCMP’s General Investigative Support Team is now working alongside fire investigators to determine the cause and origin.
“Our General Investigative Support Team is investigating along with KFR investigators to determine the cause and origin of the fire,” said Dana Napier. “As we actively investigate, we will continue to work closely with School District 73 and KFR to learn more about this incident.”
Police are urging residents in the area to review any surveillance footage from the hours leading up to the fire. Anyone who may have information or video evidence is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The investigation remains ongoing.
