Bill Sarai will lead a regional local government group over the next year.
The Kamloops councillor has been elected president of the Southern Interior Local Government Association for the 2026–27 term. The vote took place during the association’s annual general meeting and convention, held in Revelstoke from April 29 to May 2.
News of the appointment was shared in a social media post by Kamloops councillor Nancy Bepple, who also noted the election of West Kelowna councillor Tasha Da Silva as first vice-president and Princeton Mayor Spencer Coyne as second vice-president.
Sarai is serving his second term on council and was SILGA’s first vice-president over the past year.
SILGA represents elected officials from 37 municipalities and regional districts across south-central B.C.
The organization brings forward member concerns and resolutions each year, advocating to the province at the annual Union of B.C. Municipalities Convention.
