A 29-year-old Kamloops man is dead following a late-night collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on the North Shore.

According to Kamloops RCMP, the crash happened Monday night (May 25) at approximately 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of Tranquille Road and 12th Street.

Police say a frontline RCMP officer on patrol came across the serious collision shortly after it occurred.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

RCMP say the investigation is still in its early stages and no charges have been laid.

“This is a stark and tragic reminder of the vulnerability of motorcyclists on our roadways,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley in a news release. “Sadly, incidents like this are all too common, and motorists are urged to be alert to motorcyclists.”
