Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a man allegedly involved in an indecent act at a Columbia Street thrift store late last month.
According to police, the incident occurred on May 29 at approximately 11:30 a.m. while a woman was shopping at a thrift store in the 900-block of Columbia Street.
RCMP say the woman became aware that someone was staring at her and turned to see a man allegedly masturbating in an aisle nearby.
Police say the suspect fled the store after realizing he had been seen.
“To date, police have been unable to identify the male and are now releasing a photo to further the investigation,” Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in a news release issued Wednesday.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 30 years old, standing about six feet tall with brown hair, a short dark beard and a medium build.
At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a floral button-up shirt and gold-rimmed sunglasses.
Investigators say he was seen leaving the parking lot in a late-model silver Honda Civic.
RCMP have released a photograph of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes him or has information about his identity to contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file number 2026-16921.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.
