The ribbon cutting for Amadeus
A new purpose-built rental housing development has officially opened on Kamloops’ North Shore, adding 98 new rental homes to the city’s housing supply as demand for rental accommodation continues across the region.
Developers Cedar Coast and Orion Construction celebrated the grand opening of Amadeus this week, marking the completion of the six-storey building at 156 Tranquille Rd. The project is expected to welcome its first residents beginning July 1.
The development is Cedar Coast’s first residential project in Kamloops and represents a significant investment in the city’s rental housing market.
New Housing Along the Tranquille Corridor
Located in the heart of the Tranquille Corridor, Amadeus features a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom rental suites designed to accommodate a variety of residents and lifestyles.
The approximately 66,500-square-foot building includes nearly 100 rental homes along with a range of amenities aimed at attracting long-term tenants.
“Amadeus is an exciting addition to Kamloops because it brings new rental homes to the market and creates more opportunities for people who want to live, work, and build their future in this community,” said Orion Construction President Joshua Gaglardi.
Residents will have access to a rooftop fitness facility and outdoor patio, complete with a fire pit, sauna and gathering spaces overlooking the North and South Thompson rivers.
The development also includes secure bicycle storage, storage lockers, private balconies and a ground-floor commercial unit.
Amenities Designed for Modern Renters
According to project representatives, suites feature modern finishes, full appliance packages, in-suite laundry, dishwashers, air conditioning and heat pumps.
Interior Property Management, which will manage the building, says the development’s location was one of its key selling points.
Situated on the North Shore, the property is within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, retail businesses and services, while remaining a short drive from downtown Kamloops and Thompson Rivers University.
The building is also located near Overlanders Park and MacArthur Island Park, giving residents easy access to recreational amenities and riverfront trails.
The pet-friendly building was constructed using a combination of concrete and wood-frame construction.
Growing Confidence in Kamloops
Cedar Coast Vice-President of Development Jason Lee said the project reflects both the company’s confidence in Kamloops and the momentum currently being seen on the North Shore.
“The vision for Amadeus was always to contribute to the continued growth and vibrancy of Kamloops’ North Shore while helping address the need for quality rental housing in the community,” Lee said.
Lee noted the company worked with local architects, tradespeople, real estate professionals and property management partners to bring the project to completion.
Amadeus is part of Cedar Coast’s growing investment portfolio in Kamloops. The company is also involved in the Silver Stream Business Park development in the Dallas Industrial Park.
Addressing Housing Demand
The opening comes as Kamloops continues to face housing pressures and a low rental vacancy rate.
While the 98-unit building alone will not solve the city’s housing challenges, developers say projects like Amadeus help increase rental inventory and provide additional housing options for people looking to live in the community.
Prospective tenants can now inquire about available units, with move-ins expected to begin July 1.
