NL Sports has confirmed that a Kamloops Stanley Cup celebration is set for August 13th.
That is a Thursday.
Logan Stankoven will have the Cup in his hometown that day — his turn to celebrate his accomplishments, which included leading the Carolina Hurricanes in goals with 11 during their playoff run to the Stanley Cup.
What exactly Stankoven intends to do with the Stanley Cup that day still isn’t known.
But NL Sports has been told the planning continues to revolve around some form of a public event — quite possibly at the Sandman Centre.
Details are expected to be finalized and then announced in the coming weeks.

The last player to bring a Stanley Cup back to Kamloops was Mark Recchi – August 12th, 2011.
Members of the Carolina Hurricanes will get their chance to spend the day with the Stanley Cup in their hometowns — or any other location of their choosing — later this month.
Stankoven’s rise to Stanley Cup winner has been described as meteoric.
The 23 year-old from Kamloops gets to host the Cup in Kamloops at the end of a just-completed third season in the NHL.
Two years before this, he would join the Dallas Stars after becoming the top scorer in the American Hockey League, contributing three goals and eight points in his rookie campaign in the playoffs, as Dallas would fall to Edmonton in the Western Conference Final that season.
After being traded to Carolina from Dallas at the next season’s trade deadline, Stankoven would also help the Carolina Hurricanes to the Eastern Conference final that season — falling to the Florida Panthers.
Stankoven would then have a breakout post-season, scoring in every game the Hurricanes would win enroute to the 2nd Stanley Cup for the franchise.
Stankoven’s time in Raleigh seems to been long-term, as he’s become a fan favorite in North Carolina, and is signed for another eight years with the Hurricanes.
