He’s playing for the other side now, but Westsyde product Colton Meikle continues his chase of history.
The 6’4” receiver for the Okanagan Sun is closing in on two Canadian Junior Football receiving records held by Andrew Busby (2004-2008 Saskatoon Hilltops)
“I just found out about it (laughs),” said Meikle following a four touchdown performance on 80 yards receiving Saturday night against his former team the Kamloops Broncos Saturday at Hillside Stadium.
After four seasons in Kamloops, Meikle chose the Okanagan Sun to further his football endeavors this season.
The Broncos were in-flux with a new Coach after Braden VanKoughnett chose not to return this season after five years at the helm.
Jay Daniels was brought on for the Broncos, with the club sitting at 0-7 on the season.

Meikle’s career in the BC Junior Football league now sits unofficially at 191 catches.
That’s nine receptions from breaking the mark of 199 set by Busby.
After 80 yards in Saturday’s game, Meikle is now at 2,839 yards receiving in his junior career.
That’s 270 yards shy of the Busby career mark of 3,109.
“I’m not really chasing records if I’m honest,” Meikle said post-game.
“I just want that (championship) ring at the end of the season.”
The former standout of the Westsyde Whundas has three games left in the regular season to do it.
That includes a showdown with first place Langley (7-0) in two weeks.
Meikle’s four touchdown receptions all came consecutively Saturday night from fellow Westsyde product Liam Connolly.
All four came in the 2nd quarter to push the game out of reach. Connolly was listed as the third stringer on the Okanagan depth-chart but started Saturday’s game due to injuries.
Meikle now has 26 career TD’s.
That number is six shy of the all time CJFL mark of 32 held by Jeff Schieman of the Okanagan Sun (1998-2002).
