Kamloops RCMP are investigating a pair of early-morning robberies on the South Shore of the City that were possibly committed by the same person.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the first robbery – at a gas station on the 900-block of Columbia Street West – was reported around 2:30 this morning, March 15. She says the suspect demanded cash before heading north on foot.
Three hours later, around 5:30 a.m., Evelyn says a retail store on the 1500-block of Summit Drive was also hit by a man matching the same description as the suspect in the earlier robbery. In his case, she says he also made off with cash.
The suspect is described as a white man between 30 and 40 years of age. He was about six-feet tall, wearing a black New Balance jacket or hoodie, with blue pants, black shoes, and a black mask.
He is also believed to be associated with a small black car that was seen heading north on Summit Drive after the second robbery.
“Kamloops RCMP frontline officers continue to investigate these robberies with the assistance of the General Investigations Support Team and Forensic Identification Unit,” Evelyn said.
“If anyone saw, heard, or captured video of anything that may be related, please contact police [at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-8626 or 2023-8633] as soon as possible.”
