The Kamloops Firefighters’ Charitable Society is getting some financial help thank to a local brewery’s one of a kind new beer.
The ‘No. 1 Firehall Kolsch’ from Iron Road Brewing will pay tribute to Kamloops’ oldest surviving firehall, with a century old picture of the Fire Hall on its label.
“It’s like a really cool piece of history to look back and kind of see what it would be like to be a firefighter at that time, seeing the engine that they’re in compared to the current engines that they have now it’s just a near photo,” Iron Road part owner, Richard Phillips said, on the NL Morning News.
Phillips says they’ll donate $2 from every four pack and $1 for every pint of beer sold.
“The beer’s a nice, easy drinking, kind of crisp delicious German style Kolsch,” Phillips said.
“With the timing of the release we probably made a dry Irish stout but we’re really happy with how the beer turned out and the initial response from the community has been blowing us away.”

You can get this beer at Iron Road Brewing or at various liquor stores around Kamloops, though Phillips cautions, it won’t last for long.
“This will be a limited-release, easy-drinking Kolsch beer, perfect for enjoying in the warm Spring weather that’s also just around the corner,” the Kamloops Firefighters’ Charitable Society said in a facebook post.
“A portion of the proceeds will be going towards the Kamloops Firefighters’ Charitable Society fundraising, funds that are used to support charity efforts locally, and around the globe.”
