Kamloops RCMP say a local man is in custody after a Sunday evening robbery at a business on 8th Street on the North Shore.
Mounties say they were called to the 900-block of 8th Street – the area around Canadian Tire and the 7-Eleven in North Kamloops – around 8:15 p.m. after a man allegedly entered a store and threatened employees with a weapon.
Corporal Crustal Evelyn says this man also demanded cash before fleeing from the store.
“Police officers quickly flooded the area and arrested a suspect nearby who match the description provided,” she said.
Jacob James Michael Jones, 38, is charged with one count of robbery. Evelyn says he has been remanded in custody until his next appearance date, scheduled for May 1.
Anyone who witnessed or has information about this robbery is being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
