On a night where the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame grew by three individuals and one longtime volunteer group, Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack Athletics were the big winners at the annual Kamloops Sports Council Awards Saturday night.
The USports National Men’s Soccer Champions captured the Kamloops Team of the Year award. They beat UBC in penalty kicks back in November to win the title on their home field.
Coach John Antulov was recognized as the Coach of the Year, while goalkeeper Jackson Gardner was recognized as the University Athlete of the Year.
Kamloops Blazers captain Logan Stankoven – a Kamloops native – was named Male Athlete of the Year, while swimmer Sienna Angove was named Female Athlete.
Other winners included Karl Mey in the Master athlete category, while Ethan Katzberg won the International Excellence Award.
Chris Balison was named the Sports Person of the Year.
It was also induction night for the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
The Hall inducting Doug Collins, Gary Reed, Jessica Vliegenthart, and the longtime volunteer group of the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament (KIBT).
