The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Nicola River and its tributaries, as well as the Shuswap Region.
The advisory for the Nicola River includes its tributaries — Guichon Creek, Spius Creek, Coldwater River — as well as the Upper Nicola and Lower Nicola.

As for the Shuswap Region, the high streamflow advisory includes the tributaries around Splatsin, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Enderby and the surrounding areas.
The move comes as a trough of low pressure is expected to move into B.C. on Friday and Saturday — followed by the long period of hot weather — which the BCRFC expects will bringing the potential for rainfall in the region, and cooling temperatures.
Meanwhile, a Flood Warning is still in place in the Lower Thompson, which includes Cache Creek, Deadman River, Criss Creek, Bonaparte River and surrounding areas around Cache Creek and Skeetchestn.
The river forecast centre says flows around the Bonaparte River below Cache Creek, Arrowstone Creek Near the Mouth, Deadman River above Criss Creek, and Criss Creek near Savona are currently in the 5-year to above the 20-year range.
“Flooding is possible in these rivers and in similar ungauged rivers near to these areas,” said the statement.

A flood watch remains in place for the Salmon River and the Okanagan.
“On the Salmon River at Falkland, flows are exceeding the 10-year flow. Current flows in the Okanagan region are approaching the 2-year flow in most areas, with some rivers reaching 2-year to 5-year flows.”
The BC River Forecast Centre says additional river rises from snowmelt runoff alone are expected Thursday and Friday.
“With moderate to heavy rainfall forecast for Friday and Saturday, significant flood hazard will be present throughout the region. Severe flooding is possible in areas that receive high rainfall amounts (e.g. in excess of 40 mm). Peak river levels are expected on Saturday and Sunday.”
