Kamloops RCMP say a man is facing charges after a cyclist was struck in the head with a rock as she rode her bike under the Halston Bridge on Monday afternoon.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were performing a wellness check in the area of Schubert Drive and the Halston Bridge around 1:10 p.m. that day, when they saw the assault occur.
Evelyn says the cyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“Police immediately identified and arrested a suspect under the bridge deck for assault with a weapon,” she said, noting charges are pending. “He was lodged in cells as officers conducted their initial investigation, and later released with a court date and conditions.”
