Despite some confusion and miscommunication, an elderly couple from Williams Lake are home and safe.
Contacted by Radio NL, Barbara Hunt says she and her husband arrived back home on Saturday.
She says she had contact with Williams Lake RCMP around 10pm on Saturday, confirming their safety.
This comes after the couple were reported missing by family members on Saturday, prompting Kamloops RCMP to put out a notification to the media about their suspected disappearance.
“Barbara and Allan were reported missing by a family member yesterday on June 9, when they failed to be in contact as expected following an appointment in Kamloops on Wednesday,” said Staff Sergeant Janelle Shoihet in a release on Saturday.
The Williams Lake Tribune first reported the couple had returned home safely on Sunday morning.
However, citing “a gong show,” or busy night, for the the detachment, Williams Lake RCMP were unable to confirm their safe return to Radio NL when contacted earlier on Sunday.
