UPDATE 10:40 a.m. – Merritt RCMP says the search for two missing fisherman from the Lower Mainland on Stump Lake is continuing.
Sgt. Josh Roda says Mounties were notified in the early morning hours of June 20 after the two fishermen, who were in a small aluminum boat, did not return after dark, prompting an extensive, ground, water, and air search.
He says while debris belonging to the missing fisherman was found floating near the north end of Stump Lake, there has been no sign of the two men or their boat.
“We are not releasing the names of the missing fishermen at this time,” Roda said. “We want to give the families privacy while they try to comprehend what took place.”
Roda says the RCMP Under Water Recovery Team will be helping with the search in the coming days.
Mounties are asking people in the Stump Lake area to keep their eyes peeled for the men and any possible debris. Those with information are being told to contact the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
