The B.C Government has pledged to help out the Rick Hansen Foundation with a 10 million dollar grant.
Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, Shane Simpson, says the money was given in conjunction with May 28th being named Rick Hansen Day in B.C, and for the inaugural AccessAbility week.
“It’s a recognition of 3 decades of incredible work that’s been done by Rick and by his foundation, and the people around him to improve awareness, and rights, and services for persons with disabilities, and more specifically, spinal cord research.”
Simpson says, they were aiming to get the announcement out ahead of when the federal government releases legislation on access and inclusion in the next few weeks.
