A couple of generations are likely to be entertained Wednesday evening as part of the annual mid-summer night jam taking place at Riverside Park.
This year’s show will include a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac, as well as a band which will cover tunes put out by The Chicks — formerly known as the Dixie Chicks.
“Dreams, a six-piece tribute to Fleetwood Mac, is a band of talented musicians who authentically sound, dress and perform just like the original band, capturing the Fleetwood Mac vibe and experience people know and love,” said the BC Lottery Corporation as part of its online announcement. “The act has performed all over the world and will be sure to take the crowd back in time with its performances of the band’s biggest hits.”
Also performing on Wednesday evening will be a band known as Gaslighter.
“[Gaslighter is] a three-piece tribute to The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks), performing the memorable pop-country hits of the top-selling female group of all time,” notes the BCLC. “The trio, including Juno-award winner Shannon Saunders, is accompanied by a full live band of talented musicians, bringing the ultimate Chicks experience.”
BC Lottery Corporation CEO Pat Davis, whose organization sponsors the event, says they’re glad to help keep the Music in the Park tradition going this year.
“It’s really a legacy from the 1993 Canada Summer Games originally,” noted Davis. “It’s really an opportunity for BCLC to continue to give back and thank the community. This is our head office.”
Tonight’s Mid-Summer Music Jam — as part of the broader Music in the Park Series — will get underway at 7m.
The beverage garden, as well as the food trucks, will open their doors at 5pm
