UPDATE 1:55 p.m. – The RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating a suspicious death along Paul Lake Road that has led to a lengthy closure of the road in both directions.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart says police were called to the 600-block of Paul Lake Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, where they found the body of a man.

Smart says while the man’s death appears to be an isolated incident, the circumstances surrounding it are suspicious.

Paul Lake Road remains closed to traffic in both directions between Chief Louis Way and Cold Creek Road, as investigators are still on scene gathering evidence. Drivers are being told to detour through the Pinantan-Prichard route, with Drive BC expecting to update the situation around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
