The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has ordered the evacuation of eight more properties due the potential danger to life and safety caused by the Ross Moore Lake wildfire.
The eight properties in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country) and Electoral Area “M” (Beautiful Nicola Valley – North) on the southern flank of the fire as outlined here.
There are now 48 properties on evacuation order, after another evacuation order was issued Thursday because of high winds that were hitting the region
An area restriction is also in effect around the Ross Moore Lake fire, south of Kamloops, where over 300 other properties remain under evacuation alert.
Those forced out are being asked to register for Emergency Support Services here and to either stay with friends of family members or rally at the McArthur Island Reception Centre in Kamloops.
The lighting-sparked blaze, which is currently estimated to be 78.5 square kilometres in size, has been burning since July 21.
