Kamloops RCMP say the police presence in Valleyview this morning was due to reports of an assault with a weapon.
Spokesperson Crystal Evelyn says Mounties were called to the former Tournament Inn by ambulance crews just before 5 a.m., Aug. 30. Paramedics were on scene treating a man with a head injury that was “suspected to be caused by a weapon.”
Evelyn says the injured man was taken to hospital and is expected to recovery. She also says he is not cooperating with the investigation.
“Officers, including members of the General Investigations Support Team and Forensic Identification Services Unit, were in the area as part of the ongoing investigation, which includes collecting evidence and canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and video, to help determine the cause of the injury and what transpired,” Evelyn said.
Those with information are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-31379.
