Kamloops RCMP are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a one-year-old baby boy who appears to have been hit by a vehicle in a driveway.
Mounties say the incident, which happened around 4:50 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 6, led to a large police presence at a home in the 1500-block of Ord Road, near the Singh Bowl Soccer fields.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to assist ambulance crews.
“The baby was transported to hospital with critical injuries, but sadly did not survive,” Evelyn said.
The Mounties aren’t saying much more around the circumstances, but they do say that because the death involves a child, the Serious Crimes Unit is assisting with the investigation.
The BC Coroner’s Service is also conducting its own review.
People who witnessed the crash or have information that might be relevant are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-32329.
